After the original illustrations commissioned from John Tenniel, Alice’s adventures in Carroll’s Wonderland inspired countless other artists. The exact number of illustrators who have reimagined this timeless tale is unknown, and continues to grow. The Draw Me Alice Blog aims to trace these distinctive interpretations and showcase them in a dedicated space. The journey promises a great deal of fun.

    The blog is getting better and better…congratulations!
    I was wondering whether you would want at some stage to explore how Alice in wonderland influenced children´s literature and illustration over the years (an interesting link on this is http://www.bl.uk/romantics-and-victorians/themes/childhood-and-childrens-literature). Also, did Alice cross disciplinary boundaries? Did it affect other literary genres (Douglas Hoffstadter called his Pulitzer winner philosophical work, Godel, Escher, Bach: The Eternal Golden Braid “A metaphorical fugue on minds and machines in the spirit of Lewis Carroll…) ? And what about its impact on the visual arts (The Wachowskis who directed Matrix have stated that Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is a running theme in their trilogy…; and what about Alice´s influence in the Wizard of Oz?)? And on the Neurosciences (there is an Alice in wonderland syndrome, which is related to a neurological condition affecting perception)? Finally, what did Carroll hide below the surface of his wonderful and whimsical imaginative story (an interesting link is http://www.theguardian.com/books/2015/mar/20/alice-in-wonderland-what-does-it-all-mean)?

      Hi, many thanks, I very much appreciated your comment! I mean to continue, but my days are just to short!
      Are you sure Blanche MCManus? I do have a colour edition by Blanche McManus (1900), but those illustrations are very different from the “unknown” ones. Would you share with me how got to know that?

    Try and compare them. You will see that they are the same illustrations, only differently colored. I have a copy of these illustrations in black and white aswell. The 1900 copy is 3 color print – red, green and black. By 1910, the did full color – like your unknown one. I have it too 😊
